[Honda's 3-liter F1 cars that were active from 1966 to 1967]

Honda first participated in the F1 Grand Prix in 1964. The RA271, which appeared at the German GP in August, attracted attention for its groundbreaking design, featuring a transversely mounted 1.5-liter 60-degree V12 engine. The following year, it evolved into the RA272, and at the Mexican GP, the last race for 1.5-liter F1 cars, Richie Ginther drove it, bringing Honda its memorable first F1 victory.

In 1966, the RA273 was introduced to the F1 Grand Prix, which was newly contested with 3-liter engines.

It adopted a lightweight monocoque frame with high-tensile aluminum panels as the main structure, and the RA273E engine with a 90-degree V12 was called the most powerful unit at the time. 1966

The season saw both R. Ginther and Ronnie Bucknum drive the latter three races after the Italian GP.

The following year, 1967, saw the masterful John Surtees drive the car in the first six races.

He achieved a third-place podium finish in the opening race, the South African GP.

[Model Specifications]

  • The V12 engine is finished to the exact same specifications as the real car, including the fuel pipe piping and ignition wire wiring.
  • The 12 air funnels are reproduced using machined aluminum parts. Coil springs are incorporated into the front and rear suspension for smooth operation. The front wheels change direction in conjunction with the steering wheel. The nose cowl is removable. Even after completion, you can see the internal mechanics such as the radiator.
  • The brake discs, radiator, oil cooler, and steering spokes are etched parts. The emblems, mirrors, and meter rings are inlet marks. The tires are made of hollow rubber with a realistic texture. The tread pattern, of course, is meticulously engraved, as are the logos and size markings on the sidewalls.
