The Focke-Wulf Fw 190 served alongside the Messerschmitt Bf 109 to defend Germany from the middle stages of WWII to the end of the war. The A-3 variant appeared in 1942 and proved a formidable foe for British aircraft, even as the balance of power began to change after the Battle of Britain.
