The First Panther
Widely regarded as one of the finest German WWII armor designs, the Panther's story began with the Ausf.D variant. Panthers had exemplary survivability on account of well sloped armor, impressive firepower from a 7.5cm gun, and a 700hp engine giving good mobility - truly a complete performance package. It debuted in the pivotal Battle of Kursk in July 1943 and made an immediate impact, taking out enemy armor from range. Later in the war, Ausf.A and Ausf.G variants were also produced.

William ★★★★★

The sloped armor on this Panther is molded really cleanly, and the fit of the upper and lower hull was tight with almost no seam cleanup needed. For a 1/48 kit it builds up quick but still looks the part on the shelf.

Daniel E. ★★★★★

The Ausf.D variant finally got a proper 1/48 kit and the parts fit together with barely any flash to clean up. Tracks went on easier than I expected for a kit this small, and the turret sits nice and snug.

Chloe R. ★★★★★

The sloped armor plates on this Panther went together better than I expected, and the D variant's details like the drum cupola look sharp right out of the box. Fit is typical Tamiya tight, with barely any filler needed on the hull seams.
