Este material de mascaramento é solúvel em água, pelo que a sua concentração pode ser ajustada diluindo-o em água.

(Nota: Ao aplicar tintas de hobby à base de água ou tintas acrílicas por cima, a água presente na tinta pode dissolver a máscara.)

O filme seco pode ser cortado com um estilete ou faca de utilidades. Recomenda-se a utilização de uma lâmina nova ao cortar. Cortar com uma lâmina gasta pode fazer com que as bordas levantem.
